We´re a samba drumming group bringing Brazilian rhythm to Berlin

Bateria Verde e Branco was founded in 2015 by Mestre Valdir Jovenal, from Olinda, bringing the powerful tradition of Brazilian samba baterias to Berlin.

After an active beginning, the project went through a pause between 2017 and 2023. In 2023, it was brought back to life through a renewed vision and partnership with Natália Aly, its current president, marking a new chapter for the group.

Today, Bateria Verde e Branco is a vibrant collective of over 30 members from diverse backgrounds, united by rhythm, culture, and community. The group regularly performs at iconic events across Berlin, including Karneval der Kulturen (KdK), 1st of May celebrations, the Berlin Marathon, Festsaal Kreuzberg, and various events hosted by Bossa FM, among others.

Under the musical direction of Mestre Valdir, alongside second mestre Bruno (tamborim), the bateria continues to grow both artistically and structurally.

More than a performance group, Verde e Branco is also a space of learning and exchange. It offers training from beginner to advanced levels, welcoming anyone interested in experiencing samba from within.

As a cultural project rooted in authenticity, it stands out as the only samba bateria in Europe led by Brazilian artists, actively promoting and preserving the richness of Brazilian musical tradition abroad.
